Bible Study Core Group Leader Dessert

Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher David Price is in the middle of a rather unusual situation with an umpire. Apparently, some words were exchanged between the two at a game on Sunday and Major League Baseball is presently investigating. Price claims the umpire cursed at him. The umpire claims Price is lying. While it’s not unusual for umpires and players to exchange words – even heated ones at times – what is rather unusual is for this to flare up to the point of being a news story.

They say that the best umpire is the one who is not noticed. When an umpire makes himself known, that’s usually when problems arise.

You know what? We often employ this same thinking in ministry, only incorrectly. Sometimes we are guilty of taking for granted what so many people do day-in and day-out for Christ Jesus. While Christ is ultimately the one celebrated in ministry, it is not wrong for us to encourage and thank those who are allowing Him to use them in mighty ways in kingdom work.

On Friday, May 10, we will attempt to do just that during the Bible Study Core Group Leader Dessert. We recognize that the Core Group leaders (teachers, outreach coordinators, care group leaders, etc.) all work hard and invest heavily into serving Christ and we want to celebrate what God is doing in our lives and the ministry. The dessert will start at 7 p.m. Registration is requested online at fbctampa.org/register. Register on or before May 8. Contact me (brian@fbctampa.org) with questions.
