At FBC Tampa, we believe that every believer is uniquely gifted by the Holy Spirit to build up the body of Christ and advance God’s Kingdom. The Bible teaches that spiritual gifts are not for personal gain or recognition, but are given to serve one another in love, reflecting the heart of Christ in everything we do.
In 1 Corinthians 12:4-7, Paul writes,
“There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone, it is the same God at work. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.”
This passage reminds us that each of us has a role to play in the life of the Church. Whether your gift is teaching, hospitality, leadership, service, or something else, every gift is valuable and essential to the health and growth of the body of Christ. When we use our gifts in service to others, we reflect the love and generosity of Christ, who served us by giving His life for our salvation.
Using our spiritual gifts involves more than just serving within the church—it’s about cultivating a heart of service that seeks to love and care for others in every area of life. Some key ways we can use our gifts to serve one another include:
…in our faith, especially during times of struggle or uncertainty.
…and sharing the truth of God’s Word, whether in a formal setting or through everyday conversations.
…through practical acts of kindness, meeting needs in our community, or helping with the operations of the church.
…in both formal and informal ways, guiding others in their spiritual journey and helping them grow in Christ.
…for each other, lifting up the needs of the body and seeking God’s will together.
Remember, no gift is too small, and no act of service is insignificant. Every act of love and obedience to God brings Him glory and helps build up His Church. When we serve one another with our gifts, we participate in the mission of making disciples, growing in Christ, and sharing His love with the world.
